Travel has the power to transform not only the traveler, but also our world. This belief forms the foundation of our business. We have a deep commitment to protecting and preserving the destinations we visit, and building a better world through sustainable travel.

Our Commitment

We start by focusing our tours during the off season, which creates economic stability in the tourism sector.

We operate on a completely paperless basis when communicating with clients and our contacts on the ground in Tanzania.

We carbon offset all emissions from our client’s flights, ground transportation, and lodges, and recycle all plastic bottles from the tours.

We reserve 5% of our clients’ total package cost to invest in the communities and wildlife.  These community and environmental investments are tangible projects which our clients can see during their trip. All projects are determined by the communities and dependent on their most direct needs, however, we are focusing on projects that support water management solutions.

Our goal is to become a sustainable, net-positive travel company by replacing and building up all resources used by our clients during their tours.

transparency in Impact

We believe in integrating sustainability into all components of our business. We are committed to providing experiences that have a positive impact on the environment, community, and economy of each destination visited. We work closely with our local partners to ensure that travelers are respectfully visiting in a way that showcases authentic experiences.

By booking directly through our partner in Tanzania, Dry to Green Adventures, utilizing local guides, encouraging clients to buy Tanzanian souvenirs, and staying at Tanzania owned & operated lodges, 87.0% of the full cost of all tours booked with Off Season Adventures has gone directly back into the local Tanzanian economy. With international airfare included in the package cost, 61.4% of our clients’ tours has gone back into the local Tanzanian economy. These flights are not booked by Off Season Adventures, but is helpful in understanding the full picture. To put this in perspective, international studies estimate that only 5-10% of tourism dollars typically stays in the destination country, meaning that the economic leakage in tourism is approximately 90-95%.

We will be launching our first project soon! We are now in the process of speaking with a local tribe and surveying their land near Tarangire National Park for a water management solution. More details to come soon!

We offset all carbon emissions by using our partners at Carbon Tanzania. They conserve huge tracks of forested land in Tanzania, which is a more productive way of offsetting carbon. Their Yaeda Valley REDD+ Project is what we have contributed to since the inception of Off Season Adventures. To date, we have offset 83.84 metric tons of CO2 and protected 69 trees by helping Carbon Tanzania preserve 35,000ha of forest in the Yaeda Valley, an area that the Hadzabe tribe have called home for thousands of years. This way of offsetting not only has a positive environmental impact, but also has a positive impact on the local population of the Hadzabe.
