Join us on this ten-day, nine-night Culinary Tour through Uganda! This experience will introduce you to great food, friendly people, diverse cultures, magical wildlife encounters, stunning scenery, and bustling modern cities.

This tour combines immersive cultural experiences with culinary activities. You’ll meet with vendors and artisans in the vibrant city of Kampala. You’ll pick tea and regional produce with farmers in Fort Portal. You’ll fish with locals on Lake Victoria. In addition, you’ll have the chance to participate in cooking classes so you can learn more about traditional Ugandan food and take your skills home with you.

Uganda has some unique and exciting wildlife, and a trip here would not be complete without viewing some. This excursion will take you to Kibale Forest National Park for a chimp trekking experience and Queen Elizabeth National Park for exciting game drives. You’ll also have the opportunity to take guided walks to immerse yourself in nature.

This excursion combines cultural and culinary experiences with impressive wildlife encounters. Your time here will give you a clear picture of why Uganda is known as the “Pearl of Africa!”

Day 1

Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you’ll meet one of our representatives, who will escort you to your hotel. After meeting your driver and guide, you’ll have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax at your hotel, explore the town, and contemplate the Uganda culinary journey that awaits!

Day 2

After a delicious breakfast, you’ll set out on a full day exploring the capital city of Kampala. Located on the borders of Lake Victoria, this city offers a multitude of historical and cultural attractions for you to discover. You’ll begin at a local market where you can peruse the stalls and interact with the artisans and shopkeepers. A local street food vendor will teach you how to cook some of Kampala’s many everyday fast food dishes for lunch. This afternoon your guide will take you on a city tour to learn more about the capital and its history. Finally, you’ll end the day at the Ndere Cultural Center, where you’ll be treated to a local meal and a traditional music and dance performance.

Day 3

Today you’ll journey to the lovely town of Fort Portal. The drive is approximately 5 hours, but you’ll stop along the way at Mubende Town for a traditional Ugandan lunch. Upon arrival in Fort Portal, the afternoon is at your leisure to explore the town or relax before a delicious dinner this evening.

Day 4

This morning after breakfast, you’ll head to a local plantation to learn more about Ugandan tea production. Tea is one of the country’s main exports, and you’ll have the chance to pick some with the locals that work on the plantation. Next, you’ll travel to the heart of the village – the kitchen. You’ll learn how to prepare traditional Ugandan dishes like posho, matoke, katogo. Your lunch will consist of the tasty plates made during the class. This afternoon you’ll visit the village handicraft workshop. It was established to empower local women and give them the ability to earn an independent income. They will demonstrate the weaving process and give you a chance to try it yourself. Your day will end with a traditional Ugandan music and dance performance.

Day 5

After breakfast, you will embark on a chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park! A wildlife ranger will guide you as you run to find them in the thick forest. Along with the chimps, you can observe at least 13 other primates along the way. You’ll head back to Fort Portal for another traditional lunch before going on the Top of the World Hike. The walk starts at one of the many crater lakes in the area and will meander its way through forests and past villages with many opportunities to see local primates and birds. This evening you’ll enjoy a lovely dinner in Fort Portal after a big day.

Day 6

This morning you’ll travel to Uganda’s second-largest National Park, Queen Elizabeth. The park has prime wildlife viewing, so keep your eyes peeled for tree-climbing lions, hyenas, leopards, buffalo, and elephants. After lunch within the park, you’ll take a 3-hour boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. The channel links Lake Edward and George and provides many opportunities to view Nile crocodiles, buffalo, hippos, elephants, and over 600 types of birds. This evening you’ll enjoy dinner at your lodge located within the park.

Day 7

Wake up early today for another game drive in the northern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you’ll find diverse ecosystems, including grassy plains, tropical forests, rivers, swamps, and volcanic craters. This variety of terrain is ideal for wildlife so look out for leopards, forest hogs, cape buffalo, elephants, and bushbucks. After lunch, you’ll board a short flight from Kasese to Entebbe. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax.

Day 8

Today you’ll travel to the beautiful Ssese Islands in the Kalangala District of Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake in Africa. After a relaxing morning, your guide will take you to the Nakiwogo ferry port to catch the boat at 2 pm. You are heading to Bulaga Island, and the trip there is stunning, so make sure to take in the surrounding scenery. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is at yours to relax and enjoy the beach. This evening you can sit under the stars at the campfires lit throughout the property.

Day 9

This morning you can enjoy a delicious breakfast served on the beach if you prefer. Your guide will then lead you on a nature walk around the island. They will share its history and help you locate local birds, butterflies, and small primates. Head back to the hotel for lunch before a fishing excursion. You’ll meet with locals and learn their fishing techniques and more about their lifestyle. The rest of the day is at your leisure to enjoy other activities on the island, including a boat cruise, beach games, biking, and sunbathing.

Day 10

Today marks the end of your Ugandan Culinary journey! After an early breakfast, you’ll head back to the ferry departing at 8 am. You will then head to the airport for your trip home.
